Welcome to the official website of The Nudist Funk Orchestra…

AKA NFO, the band is a 7 piece booty-shaking extravaganza, who play a mixture of original tunes together with some very groovy and unusual covers. The infectious sound of the NFO comes from the combination of horns, bongos, guitars, drums and other assorted instruments. Best known for their long running regular Sunday evening show at the world famous Espy hotel in St.Kilda, the boys have been playing around Melbourne for several years and have a very loyal following.

PRESS RELEASE

Thursday 26 March 2009

End of a Funky Era
Easter Sunday will be the end of a very funky era because it will likely be a long time before you can shake that ass to the funky, unique covers and improvised grooves delivered by the Nudist Funk Orchestra.

The 7 piece funk band has decided to take ‘long service leave’ to pursue other creative endeavours for at least the next 9 months but do plan to return to the live scene at some point in the future.

The NFO have been playing a residential spot at the world famous Esplanade 'Espy' Hotel in St Kilda for an incredible twelve years and if you've somehow been holed away in some dark part of the world and have yet to get sweaty and intimate on the Espy dance floor, then the next few Sunday’s are your last chance.

For thousands of groove hungry punters from here and around the world, spending Sunday night at The Espy connecting with the Nudist Funk Orchestra has been the best way to start and end the week. There’s an intense passion and commitment about their delivery that is worth experiencing live along with their fans who are obviously passionate about supporting them.

NFO ‘s last Espy gigs are every Sunday up to Easter Sunday 12 April from 8pm to 11pm. Entry is free.

The end of the NFO Sunday Espy residency is nigh!

After nearly 12 years of funky Sundays at the Espy, NFO has become somewhat of an institution and we have loved every minute of it.
The time has come for NFO to take a well earned break, so we would like to announce the Easter Sunday as being the final Espy Sunday show for the time being.
The Espy have kindly left the door open for us to come back when we are ready.
Rexx and some of the guys have a treat in store to follow on, watch this space for more details.
