Welcome to the official website of The Nudist Funk Orchestra…

AKA NFO, the band is a 7 piece booty-shaking extravaganza, who play a mixture of original tunes together with some very groovy and unusual covers. The infectious sound of the NFO comes from the combination of horns, bongos, guitars, drums and other assorted instruments. Best known for their long running regular Sunday evening show at the world famous Espy hotel in St.Kilda, the boys have been playing around Melbourne for several years and have a very loyal following.

Playing times for this weekend have been finalized, on Friday night for the Revellers Grand Opening, we get our funk on from 9.30 to 11.45pm, will be our first public gig since last Easter!
The following night, NFO hits the Yarraville Festival main stage from 7 to 8pm on Saturday.
Afterwards at the Commercial Hotel in Yarraville we play from 10pm to 12.45am.
It's almost a mini tour...ok, three gigs do not quite count as a tour :)

I have some most excellent news for everyone who has been hanging for a good hard funk session NFO style....
Aside from our washed out NYE gig, we have had only private gigs since last Easter, so I'm very excited to announce NFO have confirmed 3 public gigs in Feb....you know the saying it never rains but it pours?
OK then, try this one on for size:

Friday 12th Feb, NFO play Revellers Grand Opening night, the venue has been fully refurbished and looking awesome, 50 Johnston St, Fitzroy (used to be The Laundry).

Sat 13th Feb Yarraville Festival main stage, 1 set from 7 to 8pm

Sat 13th Feb Yarraville Festival after party at the Commercial Hotel, Whitehall St Yarraville from 9.30, (times TBC)

The Commercial is where it all started for NFO, we have not played there for years, it will be a special gig for sure.
3 gigs in 2 days..how good!
When too much funk is barley enough.

Good news, another public gig for NFO, this one is the Yarraville Festival on Sat 13th Feb, it is a great little festival and a fun gig for us...let's just hope the weather is on our side this time!

Well we did not see that one coming!
After a mid afternoon soundcheck in 38 degrees, the last thing we were expecting was a major stormfront to end our newyears gig.
Rain was getting onto the stage area and into the electrial and sound gear, so the safety officers had no choice but to cancel the show for safety reasons.
We would like to extend our apologies to everyone who was so excited to see the first NFO public show in months, we were really looking forward to it ourselves.
We'll have some public shows for you soon...this time INDOORS!
Happy New Year to everyone, hope 2010 is a ball tearer for you, from all at NFO.
